Gone!

I'd like to comment thank you. I hear this song and I hear a beautiful, uplifting and inspiring quality. My first thought is that the song deals with feelings of depression and hopelessness and it tells you directly, almost aggressively that life is, well, alive so why feel like death when you could discover the world, even if you encounter sorrows more often then happiness.

I figured out a little thing he adds at the end on Wild Mood Swings... it's barely audible but it's funny. I think he says, "It's got to be jazz, that's what she wants."

Yeah... i find this song so selfbuilding and optimistic!

I agree w/ all esp, ming ming and sorrywrongnumbah. This is one of my inspiration songs. It motivates me to want to do something instead of laying around and being lazy. I love when Robert says "All you want to do is NOTHING"!!!!!! I also love when, near the end, he says "it's happening right NOW" I love the way he pronunciates...Love this song, it rocks!

I completely agree with ming ming. Whenever I want to wallow in self-pity and think that nothing will ever get better, I put on "Gone!" and it's instant motivation. Robert's saying that things will never improve unless you do it yourself, and that's damn right.

I have to agree that all of the above comments are correct, however, I just wanted to add that the line:

"NOTHING MUCH TO THINK AND NOTHING MUCH TO SAY DON'T WANT TO TALK DON'T WANT TO TRY DON'T WANT TO THINK DON'T WANT TO KNOW WHO WHAT WHERE WHEN OR WHY..."

has to definitely be about not wanting to go to school, considering the "who what where when or why" line.

Easily the highlight of the Wild Mood Swings album. Kind of odd lyrics for The Cure, but it's a good song all the same.

This song has the same meaning as Doing The Unstuck on the album Wish.

"That it's never too late To get up and go..." (Doing The Unstuck)

"If you do that you'll be missing the world You have to get up, get out and get gone!" (Gone!)

The basic message: Life is too short so just get on with it!

wild mood swings should have been an EP not LP. it has great songs and some b-sides anyway this is one of my favortite. not only is the use of the horns a great sound but the message is so uplifting. you can't just sit around feeling sorry for yurself because the world doesn't stop for you. you have to make it happen. you have to get up, get out and get gone. shake off those blue feelings, take a couple xanax and get happy. i was in a love triangle around the time WMS was released. i always was feeling blue bc i ws in love witha married woman who ws my girlfriend before she got married. so i decided to follow the cure on the east coast at the end of the tour. and this was my motto. i even put letter stickers n my truck that said, get up, get out and get gone. i loved it. i got to see them play plainsong in VA for the first time since the disintegration tour. plus the last two shows at radio city music hall were incredible. after wish i thought they were done but after seeing WMS tour i knew robert had much more to give. what's funny is the albany NY show was 9-11-96. kind of a wierd date. i still have a poster with the date on it that i tore off the venue wall. i sold videos to get from city yo city. jube productions were my videos. always sold with a nice cover and good quality and i thank the people that made that trip possible
