Bad As They Seem Lyrics
girl of my dreams
things are as bad as they seem
she is only sixteen.
that's why she's only a dream.
woman of my dreams,
lives right down my street,
has a daughter who's sixteen.
that's why she's only a dream.
what do i do this for?
i've got to get out some more
go down to the grocery store
meet someone i'll adore.
someone who'll make me laugh,
someone to be my better half,
keep me warm under the sack,
share with me my midnight snack.
job of my dreams
things are as bad as they seem.
working where i did at fourteen
making less pay it seems.
what do i do this for?
i've got to get out some more
go down to the grocery store
meet someone i'll adore.
someone who'll make me laugh,
someone to be my better half,
keep me warm under the sack,
share with me my midnight snack.
house of my dreams
things are as bad as they seem.
my parents house i'll stay for free
until i'm at least forty-three.
what do i do this for?
i've got to get out some more
go down to the grocery store
meet someone i'll adore.

this song is actually about a guy in hayden's neighborhood who would sit on his roof in a lawn chair, hayden wondered what the guy thought about, and what his story was, so he wrote a song about what the guys life might be like.... and there ya have it.
This song seems pretty straight forward to me. He's going through some hard times, and the focal point of his hard times is, as usual for any guy, a woman. Then he also complains about having the same job he had as a teenager and still living with his parents. I think these problems are just caused by the fact that he's so in love with this girl and can't get over her. He now just kinda let's life pass him by as sits and thinks about her.

To me this song is more representative of all his hard times, and there is no real focal point, as he mentions two different women... I've felt this way in the past, that kind of apathy caused by disliking one's situation but not feeling like you want to do anything: "What do I do this for?/I've got to get out the door."
GOD I love this song... It's so sad. It makes me think of people who are too afraid or lazy to go outside and live their lives... They go straight to work, back home, and sit around, and dream of better times, and wonder when they turned into this robot... SHIT this is such a sad song.
so genocia said what the song was really about, but i still want to say what i thought of it. to me this song was always about what we don't have, but want. whether a job, man/woman, or whatever. it's all just a dream.
