For The Soul Of The Savior Lyrics
That's alright because you wish you were dead. You live your life with a hex over your head. A savior's mouth with a serpent's tongue. but don't forget you're like this with the chosen one. and I forget about my losing streak, but you never slip at a chance to remind. It sounds like you should save a prayer for me. But I'll take my chances with the unworthy. And you know the quick path, the righteous, the way back. I'll end up the only one. I'll end up the lost son. And you know the quick path, the righteous, the way back. I'll end up the only one. I'll end up the forgotten. And you know the quick path, the righteous, the way back. I'll end up the only one. Swallow it all and wash it all down. It must be the weight of that crown. And all the lies seem to become me, because it's easier than the truth. Failure, the only thing that seems to matter. It's not the fact that you're the walking dead. So save a prayer for me. Don't waste a prayer on me.

one of the best darkest hour songs, seems like they don't get their share of respect, they still rock for me, straight up.
Everytime I hear this song, I love it more and more. I agree with eyesalwayslie... These songs don't get the recognition that they deserve.
another great Darkest hour song. This and A Blessing in Tragedy are their best songs.
this is probably my favorite Darkest Hour song. all there songs are awesome, but this one tops them all. I cant believe i havent heard more from them in the past.. they are too good to just ignore.
No one has heard of these guys in the UK, so I am trying to turn all my mates onto them, at the moment.
This has got to be their best song. It's not my favorite, but this song is just so Darkest Hour. I mean, if someone asked me to play them a song that defined Darkest Hour, I'd play For the Soul of the Savior. It's a classic. The lyrics can be depicted in a few ways. Obviously a girl or a friend is just being a complete dick and acting like they're better than our hero. This could also be about politics because John Henry loves to write about that too.
This song is not about a girl or politics. It is about atheism, as it a good portion of their music. The first line, "That's alright because you wish you were dead." Alludes to the comments that religious people make about how much better it will be in the afterlife. "I'll take my chances with the unworthy," means that he is a skeptic about religion, leaning toward logic and reason as a way to view the world. "You know the quick path, the righteous the way back." Is saying that you claim to know that your religion is true. "So save a prayer for me. Don't waste a prayer on me." Means you can believe what you want to believe, but praying for me is a lost cause. I don't believe in your God, and I make my own decisions. Praying for me is a waste of time, pray for something worth while. Read closely and you will see that the rest of the song supports this central idea.
