Waterloo Sunset (The Kinks cover) Lyrics
Dirty old river, must you keep rolling
Flowing into the night
People so busy, make me feel dizzy
Taxi lights shine so bright
But I don't need no friends
As long as I gaze on Waterloo sunset
I am in paradise
Every day I look at the world from my window
The chilly-chilliest evening time
Waterloo sunset's fine
Terry meets Julie, Waterloo station, every Friday night
But I am so lazy, don't want to wander, I stay at home at night
But I don't feel afraid
As long as I gaze on Waterloo sunset
I am in paradise
Every day I look at the world from my window
The chilly-chilliest evening time
Waterloo sunset's fine
Millions of people swarming like flies around
Waterloo underground
Terry and Julie cross over the river
Where they feel safe and sound
And they don't need no friends
As long as they gaze on Waterloo sunset
They are in paradise
Every day I look at the world from my window
The chilly-chilliest evening time
Waterloo sunset's fine
Flowing into the night
People so busy, make me feel dizzy
Taxi lights shine so bright
But I don't need no friends
As long as I gaze on Waterloo sunset
I am in paradise
The chilly-chilliest evening time
Waterloo sunset's fine
But I am so lazy, don't want to wander, I stay at home at night
But I don't feel afraid
As long as I gaze on Waterloo sunset
I am in paradise
The chilly-chilliest evening time
Waterloo sunset's fine
Waterloo underground
Terry and Julie cross over the river
Where they feel safe and sound
And they don't need no friends
As long as they gaze on Waterloo sunset
They are in paradise
The chilly-chilliest evening time
Waterloo sunset's fine

erm, yes you idiot, its about waterloo in london. dirty old river-thames.
k dont be an asshole about it, jesus lol
I normally despise cover songs. Elliott was the only man I've ever heard sing that could take a great song and make it beautiful. His voice is just so haunting and he does so much with the song. This song gives me chills, the mood and resonating lonliness sinks deep, and the relationship still seems reassuring.
I love Elliott Smith.
yes he really was the only person who could take an already genius song and make it that much better.. i love all of his covers, but its his originals that i really connect to.. he was the best writer we had..
i agree with lisalynn, another amazing cover he put his amazing spin on was Ballod of a Thin Man, nobody can ever cover Bob Dylan the way he did.
sorry as much as i like Elliott Smith, this is terrible (at least the recording i have) to say it's better than the original is a horrible thought. Elliott's Beatles covers are ace
