this isn't the right song. the real "trouble" by elliott smith goes along the lines of
trouble, oh trouble set me free well I have seen your face and it's too much too much for me
I didn't know this was one of the last songs he did. How, symbolic...maybe. Who really knows, eh?
I love this song...I haven't heard the CS version yet, and I'm not sure I want to; I'm predisposed to be partial to Elliott Smith's version anyway.

and to reply to the post above me, elliott smith was contracted to do the soundtrack of the whole song but he only did a few songs, so yes it was very close to his death.
