This Twilight Garden Lyrics
I lift my lips from kissing you
To kiss the sky
Cloud soft and blue
And slow the sun melts down
Into your golden words for me
I lift my hands from touching you
To touch the wind that whispers through
This twilight garden
Turns into a world
Where dreams are real
No-one will ever take your place
I am lost in you
No-one will ever take your place
So in love with you
I lift my eyes from watching you
To watch the star rise shine onto
Your dreaming face and dreaming smile
You're dreaming worlds for me
I lift my lips from kissing you
And kiss the sky wide deepest blue
And slow the moon swims up
Into your golden words for me
No-one will ever take your place
I am lost in you
No-one will ever take your place
So in love with you
To kiss the sky
Cloud soft and blue
And slow the sun melts down
Into your golden words for me
To touch the wind that whispers through
This twilight garden
Turns into a world
Where dreams are real
I am lost in you
No-one will ever take your place
So in love with you
To watch the star rise shine onto
Your dreaming face and dreaming smile
You're dreaming worlds for me
And kiss the sky wide deepest blue
And slow the moon swims up
Into your golden words for me
I am lost in you
No-one will ever take your place
So in love with you

On Join The Dots, it says its the b-side of "High," but they could've used it for "...Elise" too. To me, the song is amazing. If you think about it, he lifts his lips and hands off of her, and he is reassuring her that it's only for a moment, that no one will ever take her place. He describes the environment as it melds into them, and the spaces between them are corrected by the beauty of the world around.
To me, it's the Cures most perfect song. One of the most visually beautiful songs I've ever heard. Romantic even beyond what most so called romantics can understand. I've heard this song more than any other song. It's had to be over 1,000 times. The epitome of romanticism.
I'm surprised this song wasn't put onto any of their actual albums since it's really good
@UltraBlue It's definitely one of my very favourite Cure songs. So good!

If the lyrics are beautiful, hearing it on Robert's voice it's even better...

Lovely, the sweetest song of the Cure
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful.
"This Twilight Garden is my favourite B-side of all - it’s got a lovely atmosphere to it and I can’t understand how that didn’t get on Wish, while something like Wendy Time did." (Record Collector - January 2004)
Brilliant....this song nearly makes me cry at how breathtakingly beautiful it is.
Quite frankly, I don't understand how this didn't make it onto Wish either, when it's actually better than each and every song that did make it.
when my best friend and partner in crime dedicated this song to me on a mixed tape, I knew there was no turning back! Robert Smith is a voice from within...
This song is just so damn good, I see it as a transition from Desintigration to Wish. Definitely in my top 10 Cure songs.
This song means so much to me. It is incredibly beautiful and full of visual imagery that convey the wonderful emotions behind this song. It is a true treasure to the senses. One thing I wish to know, is what type of effects were used in the guitar with the warbly sound. I know it has delay and probably some kind of phaser, but I have never heard anything like it before.
