Stop the Show Lyrics
You don't tell me anything
That's not a dream
That's not a big lie
You're not going anywhere
You don't care
You think that's fine
You don't owe me anything
You're offering
It's already mine
Your best friend is everywhere
They don't care
They think you're slime
You don't even know
What it means to take your own advice
And then expect me to look surprised
After a while you know their style
And that's enough to know they suck
And when you know they'll stop the show
Because they know you know
I know it's sad but don't feel bad
They knew they had it coming
After awhile it hurts to smile
And if you laugh it's just a typical miracle
That's not a dream
That's not a big lie
You're not going anywhere
You don't care
You think that's fine
You don't owe me anything
You're offering
It's already mine
Your best friend is everywhere
They don't care
They think you're slime
What it means to take your own advice
And then expect me to look surprised
And that's enough to know they suck
And when you know they'll stop the show
Because they know you know
I know it's sad but don't feel bad
They knew they had it coming
After awhile it hurts to smile
And if you laugh it's just a typical miracle

THIS SONG IS AAAAAAMMMMMMAAAAZING. The guitar part right before he starts singing is intense and angry and I love it so much. It just reminds me of how fed up you can get with people in general, especially when they are fake bitches. "After a while you know their style, and that's enough to know they suck!" You tell 'em how it is Doug.
after awhile you know thier style...dah dah dah dah.
wonderful song. lets all sing along.
i love this song, but does anyone else pick up a beatles' "good morning, good morning" nod??? "after awhile you start to smile" = "after awhile you know their style"
the rythym in general sorta sounds like it. anyway. great song.
who are the beatles? Bts rocks!!!
Who are the Beatles? Really now? Do you live under a rock?

The Beatles are fabulous to say the least, and most contemporary rock music stems from their creative genius.

I suggest starting with Abbey Road, the White Album and Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Heart's Club Band.

And on another note, this song is so SO good... I love how it builds :)

i see some tongue-in-cheek reference to the bitter hearted "indie rock" snobs that thrive on contempt for one another.

yeah definitely a nod to the beatles in this one
If you listen very closely to the last part of this song you hear Doug saying "you should have tried" over and over again. It's very very quiet but it's definitely there.
actually i think its "you could have tried"

Doug wrote this song about Issac Broc. It's about how Isaac is a baby when it comes to tough crowds and stops shows when he gets pissed off.
are you just asuming that because i think your right

what gives you that idea?

I personally doubt that it is a specific reference to I. Brock. I've never been told or read that Isaac Brock was/is notorious for stopping shows if ever he felt like he was facing some form of opposition or tension from the crowd.

@Johndis? I'd say this is doubtful. Isaac and Doug are good friends, who record together and are on good terms. They used to tour together a bunch too.
