Built To Spill Lyrics
Built to spill
You are pleased precariously
Temporarily filled
You will
Spill until lower expectations
Momentarily chilled
You will
Built to spill
Because at the time it seemed
Like an acceptable deal
You feel, you feel
You feel like you are on the verge of something real
On a role and built to spill
This is how you'll always feel
It's no big deal
I'm ashamed of you my friend
Would you please
Would you please
I'm to blame for this my friend
Would you please
Would you please
Built to spill
Carry out your function
Then occasionally filled
You will, you will
You will come alive to something real
Then realize you're built to spill
This is how you'll always feel
It's no big deal
You are pleased precariously
Temporarily filled
You will
Spill until lower expectations
Momentarily chilled
You will
Built to spill
Because at the time it seemed
Like an acceptable deal
You feel, you feel
You feel like you are on the verge of something real
On a role and built to spill
This is how you'll always feel
It's no big deal
Would you please
Would you please
Would you please
Would you please
Carry out your function
Then occasionally filled
You will, you will
You will come alive to something real
Then realize you're built to spill
This is how you'll always feel
It's no big deal

This song's about the ups and downs of life basically... You fill up with all these good feelings and everythign seems happy, but then things spill over, and you lose it all... then you feel good things coming back again and you feel like maybe this time it'll be something real, you're on a role, but you're just built to spill... it's inevitable... And it's how it'll always be, it's no big deal, just how it is. It's how we are.
You'll be disappointed, and then your expectations will be lowered, and you'll know better than to get your hopes up about anything.
The lyrics posted above look like a Burroughs cut up of the actual lyrics, or else I'm remembering things poorly.
Do you think they wrote this song then decided its a great name for theyre band?
Chris palko otherwise known as cage used this song as the beat in his song "ballad of the worms"
This song has a lot of meaning to me because my fathers name is Randy and he died when I was 3.
This is such a good song. It song reminds me of the Shins...
life's disappointments. Or life as a disappointment.
i think this song was written to incompass the sorta mission statement of the band. they are realist. so the band was named built to spill to encompass the theme of gloom and realistic expectations should be low. grungey just how mama use to serve it :]
‘some thing’s last a life time’ (Yeah)
(Beautiful lyrics :P)
