Do what I want, 'cause I can if I don't
Because I wanna.
Be ignored by the stiff and the bored
Because I'm gonna.

Spit and retrieve, 'cause I give and receive
Because I wanna.
Gonna get through your head what the mystery man said
Because I'm gonna.

Hate to say I told you so, but I...
- Come on
Do believe I told you so
Now it's all out and you knew
'Cause I wanted to.

Turn my back on the rot that's been planning the plot
Because I'm gonna.
No need for me to wait
Because I wanna.
No need two, three, too late
Because I'm gonna.

Hate to say I told you so, but I...
- Come on
Do believe I told you so...

Do what I please, gonna spread the disease
Because I wanna
Call all the shots, all the "No's" and the "Not's"
because I wanna.

Yeah!

Ask me once
I'll answer twice
'cause all I know I'll tell
Because I wanna.

Sound device
And lots of ice
I'll spell my name out loud
Because I wanna.

Oh yeah!

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.
