i think this is a very great song, very great indeed. to me, he seems to be singing to someone who picked on him in, say, high school, someone who was popular in school thought they were on top of the world....
and now said oppressor is an insurance salesman and Pel is...
well, rich and famous.
basically, he's saying "HOW YOU LIKE THAT! HAHAHA!" he outsmarted him (by doing well in school, caring about his grades, ect.) and is no selling him for scrap!
I know people tend to project a bit of themselves into their interpretations but here's my take:
The person the song is talking about used to be someone who never thought very much but also didn't fit in very well. The other person in the song was always very obedient and never broke any rules.
Now the first person is successful and has learned from their mistakes. The second person, however, hasn't since they never bothered to try anything risky.
