Wailing Wall Lyrics
The holy city breathed
Like a dying man
It moved with hopeful tears
With the tears of the blind
And on and on as the night drew in
Through broken streets
That sucked me in
My feet were bare and cut with stones
With walking to the promised land
I pushed through crowds
Through seas of prayer
Through twisting hands and choking air
A vulture at the wailing wall
I circled...
Waiting...
Like a dying man
It moved with hopeful tears
With the tears of the blind
Through broken streets
That sucked me in
My feet were bare and cut with stones
With walking to the promised land
Through seas of prayer
Through twisting hands and choking air
A vulture at the wailing wall
I circled...
Waiting...

The first time I heard this song I immediately thought of the Wailing Wall (aka the Western Wall) in Jerusalem...mostly because of the title ;) And it seems I was right:
"About my trip to Jerusalem with the Banshees..." (R. Smith, cure news number 10, December 1990)
I love this song and find it so eerie and disturbing yet so peaceful and calming all at once. Who but The Cure could write anything like that?
have you ever been to jerusalem? this one is about taking all labans sheep and fleeing to the big city. No not really
i believe it's a religous exploration. to....the wailing wall
