I called you after midnight
Then ran until I burst
I passed the howling woman
And stood outside your door
We walked around a lake
And woke up in the rain
And everyone turned over
Troubled in their dreams again
Visiting time is over
And so we walk away
And both play dead then cry out loud
Why we always cry this way?
I kissed you in the water
And made your dry lips sing
I saw you look
Like a Japanese baby
In an instant I remembered everything...
I called you after midnight
Then ran until my heart burst
I passed the howling woman
And stood outside your door
I kissed you in the water
And made your dry lips sing
I saw you look
Like a Japanese baby
In an instant I remembered everything...
Then ran until I burst
I passed the howling woman
And stood outside your door
And woke up in the rain
And everyone turned over
Troubled in their dreams again
And so we walk away
And both play dead then cry out loud
Why we always cry this way?
And made your dry lips sing
I saw you look
Like a Japanese baby
In an instant I remembered everything...
Then ran until my heart burst
I passed the howling woman
And stood outside your door
And made your dry lips sing
I saw you look
Like a Japanese baby
In an instant I remembered everything...

Tormented man can't get the girl out of his mind. Everything is changing. Can't stand to be apart. Passion. Can't get her out of his mind. Sexual flashbacks. Marriage Proposal.
"The Walk" is marriage = walking down the aisle at the wedding. Let's go for the Walk is the proposal.
In an instant I remembered everything is such a great line. I dunno why :)
that line reminds me of Peter Gabriel "In Your Eyes":

this song is pretty har d to decipher. It's really good though, it's almost a dance track. My favourite line is " and everyone turned over, troubled in their dreams again" . maybe it's about an affair these two people are having - calling after midnight, 'visiting time' and waiting outside 'your door'. But then it starts to turn in to more than an affair 'Visiting tome is over, and so we walk away, and both play dead then cry out loud, why we always cry this way" .
This is the only Cure song that Robert Smith's mother doesn't think is crap.
Me too, I believe he 's dreaming until he suddenly wakes up and remembers that he doesn't have her.
I thought the exact same thing as teapot. I think they're both hospitalized somewhere, and after everyone goes to bed they sneak outside and have their way. Great song.
This unique song is about a dream. His dream of a girl he want but can't have cause she's dead. So hes in the dream and thinkin of things they'll do togeather. And when he says I kissed you in the water (rain) and made your dry lips sing cause their happy togeather. I saw you look like a japanese baby cause she's smiling and in the rain. But in his dream of seeing her face and then in a instant I rememberd everything. (Visting time is over)
reminds me of magical times with former special girls
this song is great on mtv unplugged with everyone playing the kazooo. but this is of the dodgy japenese whispers album that was popular. i dont think robert minds this album though as much as three imaginary boys. not that those songs dont mean anything to him
I always thought it was about a relationship between two people in a mental assylum (passed the howling woman). The narrator simply has some sort of dementia, whereas the firl has down's syndrome (I saw you look like a japanese baby). Although people with down's syndrome don't generally go to assylums.
"look like a Japanese Baby" is the expression one has while having sex.
