Back In Our Town Lyrics
Back in our town
you were the only one who really knew me.
Laughing out loud.
We always knew you could see through me.
Everything is all right.
Everything is all right.
Under the sun whispering foolish things,
you could really hear me.
You were the one --
the only one I would let near me.
Everything is all right.
Everything is all right.
Everything is all right.
And here I go.
Nobody knows.
And here I go.
Nobody knows.
I want to free a part of you.
I want to see the start of you.
I want to free a part of you.
And here I go -- nobody knows.
I want to see the start of you.
And here I go -- nobody knows.
Back in our town

"you were the only one who really knew me"
so perfect. a first love, maybe? the person that understands you when you're young and confused and haven't really been out in the world yet.
A really understated, beautiful song on the album. To me this is the most mature of the set. It has the feel of an introspective, retrospective look back at someone who deeply loved you, perhaps the only true love, despite others after, something that cannot be shared ever again in experience or words.
