This song is mostly crazy make 'em ups in pretend German, and the background vocals are simply hilarious...it's a side of the Cure mostly unseen, and I love it.

lokithecat is on the right track. Hansa wanted The Cure to take a certain direction with thier music, but the band would have none of it. Former drummer/keyboardist Lol Tolhurst says that Hansa "didn't really know how to handle us as a band. Do The Hansa is our rather tounge in cheek 'ode' to them!"
