Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise

Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these sunken eyes and learn to see
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to be free

Blackbird fly, blackbird fly
Into the light of a dark black night

Blackbird fly, blackbird fly
Into the light of a dark black night

Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
You were only waiting for this moment to arise

General CommentTo me, song is about someone who has gone through a long illness (or even old age)whose time to die has come. They are asked to "fly" to a place where there is no pain. Even though the person might be afraid to die, the song says do not be afraid to go to the place where you will be free and where you will be born again or "arise". Just my thoughts. To me, this song has a lot of spirit or soul. I also like the idea of it being for Rosa Parks during the Civil Rights movement, that is also an interesting concept....
