The way the lyrics say "give, then gave" tells me this song was about an end to a relationship of some sort. The singer sounds more angry towards the end aswell.

i don't know dude it sounds to me like he says give and not gave. i also looked in up on a few other websites and all there stuff says give and not gave. perhaps a few of them are wrong too. lol i always figured it was a break up song but i have no idea honestly.
I think he was cheated on, that's why he says "give" and "gave". He gave his lover everything and she cheated him.
