Beachball Lyrics

Tonight's alive, the beachball's set to fly
Those well tequila'd guys who smile at strangers
A tes souhaits, a tes amours cheri
You give a little sneeze and dance the rhumba

This life is sweet, we're dancing in the street
Who knows who you might meet?
You'll do fine

The little weekend's here, Thursday has an ear
Her coffee klatch career, she talks to strangers
And kissing by the sea particular to me
'ti punch, mojito, sling and dance the rhumba

This life is sweet, we're dancing in the street
Who knows who you might meet?
You'll do fine

We flash the seaside sky with starfish butterflies
To cast a spell
And welcome locals, weekenders and strangers

You'll do fine...

I think this song is gorgeous! It's so lush, perfect for early summer.

What I love about Monster is that it's a massive departure, but they manage to make it work. A lot of people don't like it because it's not the R.E.M. they know, but I prefer to judge each album as it is, context-free, not looking for more of the same.

obviously in the vast minority here, but i friggin' love this song...it ain't the political juggernaut that document-era tracks are, but it has its place...stuck in late-afternoon rush hour gridlock this song absolutely freezes time...great closer to a summery lp...not every song has to be about fightin' the man...sometimes its cool to just be...you'll do fine.

amazing song...why would anybody not like this song? Do you even like REM?

anybody who appreciates REM tunes will find this is one of their finest...if not the best song

its mysterious and unfolds like a little short story the way Mr. Stipe usually does it...

Notice the beautiful anti-climatic ending that "reveals" the actual song

DO YOU GET THE ACTION? if you are an REM fan it will come through to you

Aww, come on guys, it's not that bad of a song. It's a huge departure from their style, of course (and R.E.M. is a band known from their stylistic departures), but it's still good songwriting. As for the meaning, I don't think there really is one, rather, Stipe was just writing lyrics that complemented the yacht rock style of the song.

Why is this song on an album??? It's no good...

Sounds like M Stipe wants to retire to the Caribbean and sing lounge songs until he's 90 and has skin like leather.

Don't know what it means, but this is my least favorite REM song on my second to least favorite REM album.
