Greg Forschler, the man behind Fear of Dolls, once described this song as "an invitation to suicide", which does work, I guess...the "you" referred to in the song could well be depression, or suicidal tendencies of some sort, creeping up on the author. Personification of an emotional crisis or mental disorder, a bit like Churchill's "black dog".
