I used to have the "In my Tribe" cassette. I guess it was around '88. This song was on it. A few years later I heard that the band refused to release the version that included this song. It was something about how Cat Stevens was so far on the Muslim extremist bandwagon; threatening Salman Rushdie's life and all. Does anyone else know anything about this? I wonder if I had a collector's item. Hmmm.... Peace
Not sure about earlier releases, but the 3 CD pack titled 'Trilogy' that came out in 2005 or 2006 included the album 'In My Tribe' with this song included.

Cat Stevens mellowed out a touch after the Rushdie hoopla died down - perhaps they felt better about including it on their releases again.

I don't know but the song is on my verson of the tape too.
After learning of the Cat Stevens threats this song was pulled from subsequent releases. Therefore Peace Train was on some but not all releases of In My Tribe. Too bad because it is such a wonderful song. The music video, which can be found at MTV.com, has the band playing while on a raft on a river. The song is about everyone coming together in a peaceful effort.
