Like A Cat Lyrics
I lived in your shadow
I drove your car
You thaught I belonged in your four walls
I was never your bunny
I was never your pet
When you threw me out the window
I landed on my feet
Yeah you threw me out the window
Like a, like a, like a cat
Hey mister you can never own me
I only let you hold me like a cat
And mister you can never know me
I only let you stroke me, like a, like a
You thought I`d be purring
Curled up by your fire
Don't want to be kept for your desire
You said i should be happy
But it only ,made me sad
And when you could never tame me
That made you mad
No you could never tame me
Like a, like a , like a cat
Hey mister you can never own me
I only let you hold me like a cat
And mister you can never know me
I only let you stroke me, like a, like a
Hey mister you can never own me
I only let you hold me like a
No you never can own me
Like a cat
No you never can own me
Like a cat
No you never can own me
Like a cat

It's one of many great songs by Lauper...the 80's queen. It's comparing a female to a cat (obviously) and as independent as cats are known to be so is the woman in the song. "I got tired of your misionary position babe" has got to be the greatest line in the song!
Luv this song so much and LUV the artist. To me, she's always been the epitome of an independent; career-minded; strong; cutting edge female musician. She was never scared to push the envelope. Long before Lady Gaga was conceived, Lauper embraced equality; celebrated differences; showed compassion for those facing hostility by society; etc; while she had a flamboyant stage presence. Lauper is the epitome of INDIVIDUALITY.

Still WAY too many people unfamiliar with Lauper and her music. I doubt most have ever heard this track. It's about being caged and then cast aside before saying ya ain't gonna do it to me ever again. Anyone who loves felines or who fell in love and was used understands this song...
This song kind of interprets about Hollywood men using women and made them their slaves for sex. Believe it or not, Cyndi is a victim just like what she experienced in her past years before Hollywood. Now, who's the master? Cyndi felt tired of all these things and the cat means that she a beta slave kitten. Go research.
