Bought a rose to give to you
Windy day, the petals flew
From the stem into the street
I tried to catch them with my feet
I got to your door, you looked to see
Through the peep-hole right at me
You let me in and I just froze
I gave you a stem, it was a rose, was a rose
Windy day, the petals flew
From the stem into the street
I tried to catch them with my feet
I got to your door, you looked to see
Through the peep-hole right at me
You let me in and I just froze
I gave you a stem, it was a rose, was a rose

He's trying to do something good, but ends up screwing things up agian. No hidden meanings here. I used to listen to this over and over in high school. I always seemed to do or say the wrong thing and the worst time, and this really summed up my life at the time.
for such a short and simple song, its one of his best methinks.
"for such a short and simple song, its one of his best methinks" Definitely. I'm not aware of any other song so short that's so good. I recall, like chrislb, looping this back in highschool. That was as much for the melody as the lyrics, though.
Uplifting like the rest of the album (that's a joke, though there is a slight rise in the song's spirit at the end). Agree with the sentiment of it being hard to think of any other song by anybody so short that doesn't tire.
