Song For The Asking Lyrics
Here is my song for the asking
Ask me and I will play
So sweetly, I'll make you smile
This is my tune for the taking
Take it, don't turn away
I've been waiting all my life
Thinking it over, I've been sad
Thinking it over, I'd be more than glad
To change my ways for the asking
Ask me and I will ply
All the love that I hold inside
Ask me and I will play
So sweetly, I'll make you smile
Take it, don't turn away
I've been waiting all my life
Thinking it over, I'd be more than glad
To change my ways for the asking
All the love that I hold inside

This is a beautiful song. It shows how much someone is willing to do for love once they really find it. However, on a darker note, the speaker is clear that they can only give thier song/love if they are asked...you can't just expect someone to give you their all if you aren't forthright with them.
This is such a sweet, simple tune that it's exactly what it says it is in the lyrics. "I've been waiting all my life..." To me it's a song of awakening after a period of darkness. I think the last line is my favourite... It all makes me feel so happy :~)
I love this song. I think it is about the relationship of the audience and the artist. He wrote the song for the ones who want it. If they want it he'll do his best to make you smile for that has been his purpose as an artist.
To me, it sounds like a teacher/priests who tries to comfort his or her ''audience''.
