Baby Driver Lyrics
My daddy was the family bassman
My mamma was an engineer
And I was born one dark gray morn
With music coming in my ears
In my ears.
CHORUS
They call me Baby Driver
And once upon a pair of wheels
Hit the road and I'm gone ah
What's my number
I wonder how your engine feels
Ba ba ba ba
Scoot down the road
What's my number
I wonder how your engine feels.
My daddy was a prominent frogman
My mamma's in the Naval reserve
When I was young I carried a gun
But I never got the chance to serve
I did not serve.
CHORUS
My daddy got a big promotion
My mamma got a raise in pay
There's no-one home, we're all alone
Oh come int my room and play
Yes we can play.
I'm not talking about your pigtails
But I'm talking 'bout your sex appeal
Hit the road and I'm gone ah
What's my number
I wonder how your engine feels.
Ba ba ba ba
Scoot down the road
What's my number
I wonder how your engine feels.
My mamma was an engineer
And I was born one dark gray morn
With music coming in my ears
In my ears.
They call me Baby Driver
And once upon a pair of wheels
Hit the road and I'm gone ah
What's my number
I wonder how your engine feels
Ba ba ba ba
Scoot down the road
What's my number
I wonder how your engine feels.
My mamma's in the Naval reserve
When I was young I carried a gun
But I never got the chance to serve
I did not serve.
My mamma got a raise in pay
There's no-one home, we're all alone
Oh come int my room and play
Yes we can play.
But I'm talking 'bout your sex appeal
Hit the road and I'm gone ah
What's my number
I wonder how your engine feels.
Ba ba ba ba
Scoot down the road
What's my number
I wonder how your engine feels.

I wonder how your engine feel and a few other lines are defintely not-so-subtle
Haha I was so excited about the line "I'm not talking about your pigtails, but I'm talking 'bout your sex appeal." There is nothing better than Simon and Garfunkel acting very un-Simon and Garfunkel. Totally hilarious and fun.
Fab song for any kid who grew up with no siblings but with working parents, when you reached 14 or so, you had the house to yourself - wow!! What memories
Sly, funny song about a young guy in lust. Great melody and beat with an all-American feel.
my mum told me how she used to turn down the volume when it got to the pigtails and sex appeal line when she used to play this in her parent's house.
Aweee, I love this! It's so out of character for them, and it makes it hilarious! They're always so sweet, then this song pops up and you hear "I wonder how your engine feels!"
This is a great description of the lives of the children that were teens in the 1950s lol. Simon and Garfunkel capture them perfectly.
Is it just me or does this sound like a a man using pick up lines and casual sex? What's my number ... that is he never gives out his number, just goes on to the next girl?
His daddy and mummy's role change frequently, again is this his way of telling lies at bars or the like to get girls in his bed?
Baby Driver ... has sex with them and is on his way (down the road)
I can't believe nobody commented on this song, i really like it. It's definitely a change in style from classic S&G, such as America and Sound of Silence though.
I can't believe only two people have commented! This is an awesome song!
