When you're weary, feeling small
When tears are in your eyes, I will dry them all, all
I'm on your side, oh, when times get rough
And friends just can't be found
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
When you're down and out
When you're on the street
When evening falls so hard
I will comfort you
I'll take your part, oh, when darkness comes
And pain is all around
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Sail on silver girl
Sail on by
Your time has come to shine
All your dreams are on their way
See how they shine
Oh, if you need a friend
I'm sailing right behind
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind
When tears are in your eyes, I will dry them all, all
I'm on your side, oh, when times get rough
And friends just can't be found
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
When you're down and out
When you're on the street
When evening falls so hard
I will comfort you
I'll take your part, oh, when darkness comes
And pain is all around
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Sail on silver girl
Sail on by
Your time has come to shine
All your dreams are on their way
See how they shine
Oh, if you need a friend
I'm sailing right behind
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind

Gods hand is in this song, in listening to this and reading to the above lyrics at the same time - i had an epiphany - this is God in our lives...
the agopy love he extends, no matter what the circumstances sets the example for how we are to live with our loved ones and fellow man.
now it is a love song, but extends very much further into how this love should transcend to all..
Back in the late 1960s my grandfather, whom I was very close to, had a sudden and severe stroke that paralyzed one side of his body. He had always been active and strong with a firm dislike of hospitals-he didn't ever want to be in one. Despite his protests he was taken to the hospital the next morning. After my dad got out of work the next day we drove to Traverse City to visit him. I was shocked to see him on a bed with his right hand tied to the bed's side-rail. The staff explained he had pulled the NG tube out and they had to keep him from doing it again; they didn't even need to tie his left hand as that side was paralyzed. He was trying to talk but his speech was garbled. It was very clear he was angry and agitated. He repeatedly lifted the tied hand what little he could and indicated he wanted us, his family, to undo the restraint and get him out of there! Maybe because I had been close to him the last few years and/or he could see me struggling with whether to obey him he stopped looking at the rest of the family and focused on me. A nurse said we had to leave as 'he needed his rest' which was a guilty relief to me. I have no clear recollection of the rest of the evening but I know I felt just awful. ..The next morning I heard the phone ring and my Mom's voice answering it in a way that I knew he had died. I turned on my record player with the volume up and played, "Bridge Over Troubled Waters" and let my tears stream from my eyes. I am not sure how long or how many time I listened but I felt better at the end of it.<br /> I agree with just4david: "God's hand is in this song".
This is true because I heard the song in my head and I thought to myself how come know one has dedicated this song to me but its in my head so what's going on? And Jesus said "I was singing it to you" ♥ I was like WOW Jesus' love is deep :)
