Dizz Knee Land Lyrics

I just ran away from home
Now I'm going to dizz knee land
I just crashed my car again
Now I'm going to dizz knee land
I just robbed a grocery store
I'm going to dizz knee land
I just flipped off President George
I'm going to dizz knee land

I just tossed a fifth of gin
Now I'm going to dizz knee land
I just got cuffed again
Now I'm going to dizz knee land
Shot my gun into the night
I'm going to dizz knee land
I just saw a good man die
I'm going to dizz knee land

Hey

Kicked my ass out of school
Rolled me out into the street
Hitched a ride on a monkey's back
Headed west into the black

I'm going to dizz knee land

The song actually comes from a slew of old advertisements for The Disney corporation called "What's Next?" where thy would ask some football player during the superbowl what he was going to do next, and he would reply "I'm going to Disney Land." after these advertisments the phrase was often used as a joke in entertaiment on t.v. and even in music (ie this song), if theres some deeper meaning I don't know but it's pretty funny.

jwill01, thanks for letting us know it was an actual ad campaign. I thought it was just some bizarre football tradition. (This is what I get for not following sports.)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I'm_going_to_Disney_World! has details; it's been an ad campaign featuring a Superbowl winner every Superbowl but one since 1987, and they've gotten other competition winners to do it as well.

This song is not particularly subtle. The slogan had been aggressively associated with moments of triumph for six years when the song came out. These are all low-brow, self-destructive, or tragic situations. Suggesting that the appropriate way to celebrate these moments is going to Disneyland is a bitter contrast.

I think "Dizz-Knee Land" might be their pet name for the Orange County Jail. If you ran away, flipped off the President, shot somebody, you're surely going to "Dizz-Knee Land".

@ballroomblitzkid Flipping off the President isn't a crime. Running away isn't a crime either, except in a few backwards states if you're a minor.

The singer describes someone living a wild life but at the moment in the narration when it sounds like they've arrived at real trouble, they say/think/reflect, "I'm going to Disneyland," which had recently been associated with success in sports (the Super Bowl, Olympics, etc.) by a Disney ad campaign. This probably indicates that the wild youth refuses to face up to the consequences of his deeds and whimsically thinks that he's winning when he's losing.

Despite what one commenter wrote several times, there's no apparent link between any particular celebrities and this song – the bassist explains on the Wikipedia page that he wrote it and didn't mention anyone else.

These lyrics have absolutely nothing to do with Johnny Depp and/or River Phoenix. They are just the results of the band thinking how ridiculous it is (was) how professional athletes would immediately after accomplishing the ultimate feat of their whole life (i.e. winning the Super Bowl) and then they would immediately SELL OUT to some corporate advertising campaign without even giving it another thought. Pretty pathetic, really!!

Although this song was written over 25 years ago it's trully fitting for this violent and benevolent world today. No one seems to care about consequences anymore.

My Interpretation

@angela1047 Wow! Violent AND benevolent!

Johnny Depp helped write this with his friend River Phoenix and the group. Basically their life story in a nutshell.

Also; about abused boys and how they are just shelved out onto the streets. L.A. and the whole Hollywood & Vine Sunset Strip scene of the early 90's.
