rose bouquet Lyrics

Rose Bouquet
(Phil Vassar, Robert Byrne)

We were somethin', you and me
Yeah we had'em rollin' in the aisles
We got it right once, didn't we
We had our shot and missed it by a mile
Forget the bitter end
Can you remember when

We sang, we laughed
They all watched us dance
They circled around us
And toasted to forever
We played to win
We never gave in
And we threw it all away
Like your rose bouquet

Passion flows like a long white gown
But it ain't easy to keep your love alive
We hoped each other would come around
We'll use the lessons for better luck next time
But how sweet it was back then
Do you remember when

We sang, we laughed
They all watched us dance
They circled around us
And toasted to forever
We played to win
We never gave in
And we threw it all away
Like your rose bouquet

We sang, we laughed
They all watched us dance
They circled around us
And toasted to forever
We played to win
We never gave in
And we threw it all away
Like your rose bouquet

I've probably heard this song before in passing, but I actually listened to it this time. And it's really a great song. It's about two people who were once in love and ended up throwing it away like the bride's "rose bouquet". (After the wedding ceremony, a bride tosses her used flowers over her shoulder to her single female wedding guests and the one who catches it is supposedly the next to be married). Any way, the simple and easy way that the rose bouquet is how easily he says that they threw their love away. It’s quite sad.
