Repulsion Lyrics
I feel your eyes upon me
How should I act today
To feel so unsure always
Give up or now keep on this way
The silence taps my elbow
It's good, least that's what she said
I could run but I stand and greet it
Boredom won't starve as long as I feed it
The world drips down like gravy
The thoughts of love so hazy
Everyone's ideal of fun
Repulsion
Try to wake up, try to break it open
It's not quite the right feeling
I'll just keep on hoping
The girls, they smile and say hello
The darkness drags me back home
It's hard to face it
Still waiting, still alone
The world drips down like gravy
The thoughts of love so hazy
Everyone's ideal of fun
Repulsion
Try to wake up, try to break it open
It's not quite the right feeling
I'll just keep on hoping
The world drips down like gravy
The thoughts of love so hazy
Everyone's ideal of fun

i think this song is about a relationship that he just hates and he can't or doesn't want to break up with her and now the ideal of her just is repulsive to him
"I feel your eyes upon me, how should I act today? To feel so unsure always, give up or now keep on this way." He feels pressure to act right around this girl he likes, but is not sure if it's worth his effort. "epic solo" Because J Fucking Mascis. "The silence taps my elbow, it's good, at least that's what you said. I could run but I stand and read it (boredom won't stop as long as I feed it)." He feels worried by the silence between them, but the girl says "naw, I'm fine". He could just walk away from her, but he tries to make sense of it all instead so he can be with her. "The world drips down like gravy, with thoughts of love, so hazy. Everyone's ideal of fun: repulsion" When he's around this girl, everything is soft, molten, flowing, beuatiful, hazy. And then the part of him that wants to walk away claims to be repelled by the thought of love and sex because he frets rejection. "Try to wake up, try to break it open. It's not quite what I'm feeling, I'll just keep on hoping" Although he tries to snap himself out of the idea, he just "keeps on hoping", because it's the only thing he knows how to do. "The girls all smile and say hello, and darkness drags me back home. It's just so hard to face it. I'm still hated, still alone" This line pretty much speaks for itself. In conclusion, I think this song is about the pain that love brings, in that though we are unsure about the prospect if we've been hurt before, it's something we'll go after anyway.
I could listen to J Masics and crew for hours and not get bored or become aware of the passage of time.
I think its about (bum ba da bum) repulsion.
It's about being shy around girls.
I think it's about being an outcast, but more or less by choice.
"Everyone's ideal of fun....repulsion"
J doesn't like doing the shit everyone else does for "fun". He finds it repulsive.
