Green Mind Lyrics
How ya' doin'?
I picture things a certain way
Then go back to it another day
The green mind said it's okay
Cause you know where they're gonna be
All's you have to do is come with me
It's cool, they're probably asleep
On the outside
That's where they always hide
Come to my side
And I'll introduce you to
Some of their kind
I know you've always tried
And now it's your time to take
In their point of view
It's nothing new
I been bouncing off the wall
I can't hang with them for long
They're cool, but I need you
On a certain level I think they're great
But on another I can't relate
To anything they do
On the outside
Might be with them tonight
Unless you decide to call then I'll check out you
Hangin' heavy, such a routine
I've just begun to forget why
I seldom try to break out of their scene
And now I gotta work on you
So the frogs'll hang
They'll always be hangin'
Now we're here, what do we do
I've been sortin' through the pros
And cons of your eyes, their webbed toes
Can't you help move it along
I been pickin' through my thoughts
It's a shame my judgment rots
Not sure it's where I belong
On the outside
Well, it'll be a while
I gotta unfry
'Fore I pick it up with you
Help me
Do I need that stable care
Don't I know that they'll be there
Does that count now you've appeared
Do I need that stable core
Or do I jump for something more
Are you all that I fear?
I been pickin' through my thoughts
It's a shame my judgment rots
And I sure feel where I belong
It's a call that's tough to make
It could be a big mistake
Can't you help move it along
If I keep stewin' 'bout how I feel
Eventually you'll split, then I won't have to deal
Sounds like a plan
But it's kind of lame to let it slide
Knowin' either way I haven't tried
Can't figure out where it all stands
In a green mind
Then go back to it another day
The green mind said it's okay
All's you have to do is come with me
It's cool, they're probably asleep
That's where they always hide
Come to my side
Some of their kind

It's about J's feelings towards the scene that held/holds him as their king.
Personally, I think this song is about being stoned, and thinking about trying to talk to a girl. Well...The first verse, anyway. The 'green mind' could be one of two things; The "slacker" mentality, or sweet, stinky weed. The chorus is the narrator looking around, seeing that he doesn't want to chill with his friends, he wants to chill with the girl. The second chorus is the narrator (J, I guess) trying to decipher the gestures of the girl. He gets kind of confused, and tired of thinking of it all, and decides he'd rather "rot" than have to deal with that. The last part, before the final chorus, is the narrator realizing the girl is in conflict with his lifestyle. Then, it dives into the chorus, and ultimately tries to decide whether to change his ways for the girl, or "letting the plate split" (just laying his feelings on the line), and not having to deal with it. But, he ultimately decides that it'd be lame to go down without a fight, despite his confusion.
Yeah....For the record, I love the last chorus, and how he sings "I think it'd be kinda LAME to let it slide".
I can relate to this. He's in love with someone and wants to be alone with them. He met her in this friend group and feels like he can't really stand the group for too long except for her. Or he's just stoned?
I don't think this has an exact subject but - referring to the way I relate to it here - I think it's sort of an exploration of his psyche. By using examples he is talking about the ways that he is.
I absolutly love it.
