It's about wanting to see someone who feels confused about the relationship and doesn't want to stay together anymore.
The person the song is addressed to doesn't want to see who's singing and probably is thinking about many reason for that, at the point he or she should be weary.
"Now what else is wrong? Sure, I'll take the blame" are my favorite strophes, it's genius, that's pop poetry.
And yes the album this song is off is great.
To me this song is just about wanting to spend time with someone (doesn't have to be a partner) who is growing increasingly more reluctant to spend time with you. And even when they do spend time with you they don't really seem there. I've been there
