Truth Doesn't Make A Noise Lyrics
Can't you people just leave her alone
She never did nothing to hurt you
So just leave her alone
And the quiver of her bones below
Are the signs of a girl alone
And tell you everything you need to know
I feel it often
Every time I see her face
But the way you treat her
It fills me with rage
And I want to tear apart the place
And all she does is stare at you
Her stare is louder than your voice
Because truth doesn't make a noise
No, truth doesn't make a noise
The truth doesn't make a noise
I feel it often
Every time I see her face
But the way you treat her
It fills me with rage
And I Want to tear apart the place

This is SUCH a Meg song! She's really reserved, very quiet. Meg doesn't go to interviews or smile for paparazzi or anything like that. She just doesn't like it. I think Jack's trying to be like, "Just fuck off guys, leave her alone."
As a matter of fact, it's really hard (REALLY hard) to find a picture of Meg White when she's actually smiling. I'm interpreting that as photographers telling her to look at them, and she's enough of a badass to look at them and totally not smile. I wasn't sure about it, but when he says "The motion of her tiny hands," that pretty much confirms it for me; as she is a drummer.
Definitely agree with this, but I think Jack is also singing about being sick of people criticizing her drumming ("The way you treat her, It fills me with rage...").

"You try to tell her what to do, And all she does is stare at you, Her stare is louder than your voice" : Meg simply ignores the haters, and her silence, or lack of response to the hate, is the sign of her staying true to herself. "Because truth doesn't make a noise."

Great song, and a touching tribute of Jack's to his underrated bandmate/ex-wife/friend....

this is mad cool...its about sticking up for someone who you care about. this person, despite the fact that they may have the world's best poker face, may be very sensitive. this pisses off the other person.

Awesome! Definately one of the whites stripes' best. I agree with the comments at the top, he's trying to defend/explain someone he loves to people who obviously don't understand her. I love it. "My baby's got a heart of stone..."

I think it's about a girl who Jack likes and she is in a bad relationship. And he gets sick of it.

Acctually I think this is about a girl who is dealing with so many things in her life but can't seem to express them. He is the only one who knows what is really going on with her. And everyone else likes to screw with her, and she pretends that it doesn't hurt her at all, but he can see that deep down its destroying her.

this is the best white stripes song

this song goes to ways for me. i sometimes am the protector, and more often than not, it seems like i need protecting. but this song kicks major ass

This song is hella wet! but its much better on the white strips "under blackpool lights" DVD
The song speeks for its self.

from the first time i heard it i was convinced it was about rape or kidnapping, but wehn i started listening to the lyrics a bit closer i have no idea what it could mean

I love this song and can really relate to the girl Jack's singing about.
