All Things Must Pass Lyrics
Sunrise doesn't last all morning
A cloudburst doesn't last all day
Seems my love is up
And has left you with no warning
But it's not always going
To be this grey
All things must pass
All things must pass away
Sunset doesn't last all evening
A mind can blow those clouds away
After all this my love is up
And must be leaving
It has not always
Been this grey
All things must pass
All things must pass away
All things must pass
None of life's strings can last
So I must be on my way
And face another day
Now the darkness only stays at nighttime
In the morning it will fade away
Daylight is good
At arriving at the right time
It's not always
Going to be this grey
All things must pass
All things must pass away
All things must pass
All things must pass away
A cloudburst doesn't last all day
Seems my love is up
And has left you with no warning
But it's not always going
To be this grey
All things must pass away
A mind can blow those clouds away
After all this my love is up
And must be leaving
It has not always
Been this grey
All things must pass away
None of life's strings can last
So I must be on my way
And face another day
In the morning it will fade away
Daylight is good
At arriving at the right time
It's not always
Going to be this grey
All things must pass away
All things must pass
All things must pass away

I think this song means that good things are wonderful, but they don't last forever. It reminds me of Robert Frost's poem "Nothing Gold Can Stay".
This isn't actually a Beatles song... it only appeared on the Anthology because George tried a demo of it during a Beatle session, the other Beatles shot it down, and he went on to perform it for a solo album.
kthnx.
thats exactly what it means,it means all good things must come to end.
This song is a song of goodbyes, kind of like the Beatles saying good bye. Although they were great together sooner or later they had to end. It was like they were saying good bye to each other.
This is actually not a Beatles song, but basically I agree with all the statements above. All good things sometimes come to an end.
written through the white album sessions, a great melodie
the meaning is pretty obvious but the true beauty here lies in its simplicity and the way he delivers the news. he accepts beauty and appreciates it because he knows that it, like all other things, is doomed
A beautiful song and a perfect reflection on George, his fearlessness, wisdom and his pure acceptance of death as a part of life.
Let me guess.... theyll have imagine on the beatles pages too?
Idk if it bothers anyone else, but it bothers me when people mix up songs from their solo careers and when they were the beatles
I'm sure that Harrison's lyrics here later applied to the breakup of the Beatles, but I don't think they were the intention. This song was yet another wonderful attempt of Harrisons to find spiritual Nirvana. See: My Sweet Lord, Here Comes The Sun, Give Me Love, etc. etc.
If you're looking for a George Harrison song that IS about the Beatles breakup and was written explicitly about it, I suggest "Isn't It A Pity".
