Not quite so simple as that; a lasting impression yes, but not a positive one. "Worst mistake I've made": evidently aware that the relationship was a bad idea... but, it'd seem, a mistake he'd be more than happy to repeat. The lyrics are reasonably straightforward: "I would I were the same" - may wish he could just put the (mess of a) relationship out of mind, but cannot.

hubba hubba... dis song is soooo cooel ya its about a couple splittin up.i think that the 1st verse of dis song is one ofthe lovers side of the story and the 2nd verse is the other luvas side of the story. PHEW! Long winded... oh, and tweet, DUUUUUH!
I think this song is about a one night stand with a friend, who they think is right for them but deep down they know they aren't and the main reason they think thy're right for them is because their 'time' together was so good. But the problem is the other person involved seems to be regretting it happening. The person knows it was a mistake to jepordise their friendship and they tell themselves it was a mistake,BUT they'd do it all over again.
