The song reminds me of The Scarlet Letter (of course). If you think of it in that sense, it pretty much makes sense on its own. I think the song's saying that no matter what the other person has done in (her) life, there's forgiveness in love.
It tells about how if we know Christ as our Savior, there is no sin that keeps God from holding and loving us. And there is NOTHING that we can do to stop God from forgiving us or loving us. His love is so much greater than we are, nothing we do can stop or hinder it.
