Easy Lyrics

I once had a friend who
Met an early end to
A kind of modern way of thinking
He wasn't taken from us
Yeah, he’s still among us
But he lives for drugs and drinking
He liked to point the finger
His accusations linger
A deeper part of every action
He loved to play the game where
He’d disperse the blame for
every deep dissatisfaction

(Chorus)
Easy to bitch, easy to whine
Easy to moan, easy to cry
Easy to feel like there ain't nothing in your life
Harder to work, harder to strive
Gard to be glad to be alive
But it's really worth it if you give it a try
(C’mon give it a try)

He once told me how he couldn’t wait to beat me
So he could take what I was telling
He said he don't give a damn
It's all a master plan for
Us to buy what they are selling

(Chorus)

If I sound above it
I can't sit in judgment
‘Cause I ain't sure where I'd be sitting
These are all my problems
Lord, I've tried to drop 'em
‘Cause this ain't how I should be living

(Chorus)

It seems like in the first part of the song he's saying all these problems belong to a "friend" because he's ashamed that they're his own.In the end, though, it looks like he reveals that they are really his own problems.

I think he's saying that life's too good to comlpain about everything (chorus) and that there's more to it than crap like drugs and booze. That's just my take though...

In typical preacher fashion, Fred talks about a guy who bitches and moans about everything that isn't handed to him in life. In the end, Fred admits that he can't sit in judgement since we all do the same thing to some degree or another at times.

As with any personality flaw, admitting it is an issue is the first step that his friend seems to have not taken yet.
