Act Naturally (Buck Owens cover) Lyrics
They're going to put me in the movies
They're going to make a big star out of me
We'll make a film about a man that's sad and lonely
And all I got to do is act naturally
Well, I'll bet you I'm going to be a big star
Might win an Oscar, you can never tell
The movies going to make me a big star
Because I can play the part so well
Well, I hope you come and see me in the movies
Then I know that you will plainly see
The biggest fool that ever hit the big time
And all I got to do is act naturally
We'll make the scene about a man that's sad and lonely
And begging down upon his bended knee
I'll play the part, but I won't need rehearsal
All I got to do is act naturally
Well, I'll bet you I'm going to be a big star
Might win an Oscar, you can never tell
The movies going to make me a big star
Because I can play the part so well
Well, I hope you come and see me in the movies
Then I know that you will plainly see
The biggest fool that ever hit the big time
And all I got to do is act naturally
They're going to make a big star out of me
We'll make a film about a man that's sad and lonely
And all I got to do is act naturally
Might win an Oscar, you can never tell
The movies going to make me a big star
Because I can play the part so well
Then I know that you will plainly see
The biggest fool that ever hit the big time
And all I got to do is act naturally
And begging down upon his bended knee
I'll play the part, but I won't need rehearsal
All I got to do is act naturally
Might win an Oscar, you can never tell
The movies going to make me a big star
Because I can play the part so well
Then I know that you will plainly see
The biggest fool that ever hit the big time
And all I got to do is act naturally

humorous perormance? Sad sack Ringo? Ringo is a great singer and i love this song. Ringo doesn't get the respect he deserves!
I think its pretty obvious that the song is about a man that himself is sad and somewhat pathetic. Since he is playing the part in a movie of a character who shares traits with him, all he has to do is act naturally.
Ringo is definitely the man. It's a real shame he doesn't get the credit he deserves. The Beatles, whether you want to believe it or not, would have been much different without him.
The Beatles always said that Ringo was the best actor out of the group. And it was something that he would do as the years went by, making many a film.
Act Naturally is a Buck Owens song that the Beatles recorded with Ringo, of course, on lead vocals with a little help from Paul McCartney. Ringo loved country music. This song was perfect for him. I'm sure his fans loved it!
Tidbit: This was also the Beatles last cover song that was entirely written by a another person other than the Fab 4 in the 60's (Other than the public domain snippet from Let It Be...Maggie May).
To me this song kind of sounds like it could almost be a message filled with spite being told to an ex-lover or something.
Well, I hope you come and see me in the movies Then I know that you will plainly see The biggest fool that ever hit the big time
Almost seemed like she could have said something like he's a fool and he'll never amount to anything. Now he wants to prove that he's going to be this famous actor and it's all her doing, by leaving him sad and lonely, which as we know is what he's becoming famous for :/.

Really, this song is perfect for Ringo's voice.
About a sad little man who wants to be a movie star. Finally, he gets a role! As a sad little man.
Great cover by Ringo.
OOPS! John and Paul didn't write this song at all. I've been told Buck Owens recorded it circa 1962. The Beatles version is from 1965. It's credited to Morrison/Russell. But it fits Ringo's persona perfectly.
I've never heard the Beatles sing this, always another person or group, so I don't know....
