Dollhouse Lyrics

PUSHING, PULLING ME DOWN AGAIN
PUSHING, PULLING ME DOWN AGAIN
IT'S GETTING BAD I CAN'T BREATHE
I WON'T LET THEM IN
I WON'T LET THEM IN
CRUSHING, PUSHING ME DOWN AGAIN
CRUSHING, PUSHING ME DOWN AGAIN
I NEED TO GET AWAY

LISTEN NOW TO THEIR HURTING WORDS
THEY RIP AND THEY DO TEAR
PUSHING OUT ALL OF MY HIDDEN THINGS
HOLD MY HAND AND TAKE ME THERE
SICKENED EYES SEEM TO MESMERIZE
THEY'RE MELTING AS THEY GLOW
MEMORIZE YOUR ALIBIS
THEY'RE LAUGHING IN THE SNOW

PEOPLE CLIMBING UP THE WALLS
BREAKING ALL OF MY WRETCHED DOLLS
FINGERNAILS THEY SCRATCH OUTSIDE
IN THE ATTIC IS WHERE I'LL HIDE
PEOPLE CLIMBING UP THE WALLS
BREAKING ALL OF MY WRETCHED DOLLS
FINGERNAILS THEY SCATCH OUTSIDE
IN THE ATTIC IS WHERE I'LL HIDE
I WON'T LET THEM IN

this song is about inner torment and paranoia...people constantly critisizing and she wont let them get to her

This was the first S.S. song I had ever heard, and it's still one of my favorites today. I think it's about being paranoid.

Paranoia definately.

this song is amazing. it was the first switchblade song i ever heard and i was instantly hooked. i think this song is about hiding from the fake, critical, superficial that are so widespread. the conformity is coming to devour him/her but he/she is hiding and won't let themselves conform to society's standards. "sickened eyes seem to mesmerize"--society's "sickened eyes" try to bring him/her to assimilation. as he/she grows stronger, society's eyes melt even as they "glow"...try to bring him/her to conformity.

or maybe i just think too much grin

Indeed this song is about paranoia but it is more than just that. It's everything someone could do to make you feel less. Tina is just saying that people will try to bring her down but she will never let it happen. I agree it is a S.S. song

My friend and I thought about this song just yesterday actually. We believe that this song is about someone who was hiding Jews during the halocaust. The Nazi police are raiding their home, while the Jews hide in the attic.
