Getting Scared Lyrics

Turn your ugly face
Are you so surprised to see me?
Yeah, I was your little childhood playground toy
And if I remember
Yeah, if I do remember rightly
I said the tables would be turned around, boy

Who's getting scared now?
Tell me, how does it feel?
It feels so good from where I'm standing

The only times of my life
When the sun was meant to shine for me
You made it pour down
Pour down with tears of rain
And dug my pride with a knife
Encased by your obsession with me
Times of mental torture
And screams of justified pain

So you gonna chase me now, boy?
Yeah, you gonna corner me now, boy?
You think you're gonna threaten me now, boy?
Well, somehow I don't think so

Yeah, you gonna stamp me down now, boy?
Yeah, you gonna crush me down now, boy?
You think you're gonna threaten me now, boy?
Yeah, somehow I don't think so

Who's getting scared now?
Tell me
Tell me, how does it feel?
It feels so good from where I'm standing

Yeah, you're getting scared now, piggy
Go ahead and squeal
It sounds so nice from where I'm standing

Who's getting scared?
Who's getting scared, now?

This song is explaining her experience and feelings toward a childhood bully it seems. It reminds me of how I felt years later after 5th grade when the kids that bullied me ended up apologizing for the three years of torture i was given. It was ironic to me. And i enjoyed it , when they apologized i reacted somewhat coldly in reply. Kid's can be cruel as hell. This is an awesome song. Bitter yes, but she explains her points and pain across beautifully. " The only times of my life The sun was meant to shine for me You made it pour down, pour down with tears of rain"

To me these lines say that in the prime of her life, her childhood that should be enjoyed was spoiled by this boy who brought her life down during this period in her life.

"Encaged by your obsession with me"

This line obviously can be taken in different ways. Doubtful though this could have meant he liked her, that type of obsession. But i personally take this comment as her saying his obsession with bullying her.

To sum it up this is a bitter song about this girls past with this bully and years later her revenge.

Awesome song

Definitely about getting revenge. Maybe not with a childhood bully, but definitely about getting revenge. I love this song.

this song is about getting back at somebody who molested/raped her during her childhood. it's about finally regaining confidence and telling him that he can't make her feel worthless and vulnerable anymore.

"Yeah i was your little childhood playground toy"

"Dug my pride with a knife Encaged by your obsession with me Time was mental torture and screams of justified pain"

think about it, it'll make a lot of sense.

I agree that it's about bullying and the revenge which follows... this song is quite emotional... love it...

After recently being abused by an exboyfriend, I really think that this song brings to me the feeling that she originally was so vulnerable and allowing whatever sad thing or traumatic thing was happening to her, but that from now on that was NOT the case, it's like "who's scared now buddy?!" I think it has a lot to do with evolving with your pain and $hit thats gone on in your life.

to me it's about a mentally abusive relationship. "the only times of my life the sun was meant to shine for me you made it pour down pour down with tears of rain."

I was in a mentally abusive relationship at one point and this song makes me feel empowered/angry towards him now which was something I just couldn't achieve before.

I was "encaged by your obsession with me" because he was obsessed and wouldn't let go. I like this song alot because of the message....he's not going to get to me anymore.

Memory

I agree with what people have said about this being a song that talks about revenge on someone who molested/abused her when she was young. This is a great song, it's got such great emotion.

I don't really think it's based on a childhood experience.... the 'childhood toy' remark could be a metaphor for someone who pushed her around like a helpless little kid. I think it's an abusive relationship, and she's getting sweet revenge. I love those lyrics: "Yeah, you're getting scared now, piggy/ Go ahead and squeal" How nice it must feel to get payback against that pig. >:)

I think it is about a girl that was pick-on by a boy that she later want out with because she was scard of what he would do and he acted like he could not live with out her. Now she is telling him that she mite break up with him, he falls apart because he feels he needs her but she does not need him.

Song Meaning

It's about rape imo, I instantly thought about rape when I heard the chorus. Tbh I think it's a father molesting his daughter, then she's grown up, told authorities about it and now he's shitting himself.

I know most of that isn't even said but it just feels to make sense with this song.

I just don't understand why frou would say it is right to get back at a bully.

Encased by your obsession with me - He was obsessed with raping her.

Hmm now I think about it.

Encased by your obsession with me - Obsessed with bullying her.

Well, idk, interpret it however you want, you're the one listening to it, it can mean anything you want it to.
