All By Myself Lyrics
When I was young
I never needed anyone
And makin' love was just for fun
Those days are gone
Livin' alone
I think of all the friends I've known
But when I dial the telephone
Nobody's home
All by myself
Don't wanna be
All by myself anymore
All by myself
Don't wanna live
All by myself anymore
Hard to be sure
Some times I feel so insecure
And love so distant and obscure
Remains the cure
All by myself
Don't wanna be
All by myself anymore
All by myself
Don't wanna live
All by myself anymore
I never needed anyone
And makin' love was just for fun
Those days are gone
Livin' alone
I think of all the friends I've known
But when I dial the telephone
Nobody's home
All by myself
Don't wanna be
All by myself anymore
All by myself
Don't wanna live
All by myself anymore
Hard to be sure
Some times I feel so insecure
And love so distant and obscure
Remains the cure
All by myself
Don't wanna be
All by myself anymore
All by myself
Don't wanna live
All by myself anymore

Obviously the lyrics are cheesy and simple to solve. But it's sad because its a main problem that me and others with Asperger-Syndrome have: disability's of social and relationship skills.
"I never needed anyone And making love was just for fun Those days are gone" Love isn't really that important in your childhood; except, for your family. So you "never needed anyone" for that; even though there are some kids that have relationships because "making love is just for fun" not for real. But when you get out of your childhood, "Those days are gone".
"Living alone I think of all the friends I've known But when I dial the telephone Nobody's home". Your "living alone" because nobody needs you. You "think of all the friends" you know since your alone and you "dial the telephone" because you want to talk to someone. "Nobody home" because they don't want to talk to you.
It's really depressing for me:(
@jamesclark111 I know what you mean. I grew up a latch-key kid, home alone most of the time on weekdays. So I can't say my social skills are great, either. It's sad, but I have many animal friends to keep me company. :-)

This song has always been in my Top 5 Saddest Songs of All Time. The lyrics are a little cheesy but the music itself is first-rate. The orchestration and string arrangements are among the best ever done on a pop song.
It really does a great jobo giving you an overwhelming feeling of sadness in the way the piano is used and his voice. Its very sad

@ksandbergfl the piano parts between the verses is borrowed from Rachmaninoff's second piano concerto, second movement. Indeed first rate.

Truly a sad song. My favorite lyrics: "I think of all the friends I've known, but when I dial the telephone, nobody's home". That happens and can be quite painful.
I think this song resonates with us as human beings and our emotions. When you
re young you really dont need anyone. You have school, your friends, dreams. But when we really get out into the real world, we face more difficulties and are no longer that carefree youth anymore."Making love was just for fun" is saying that while even though making love was just for fun, you finally at some point in your life realize that you would rather have more commitment and meaningful relationships in your life.
"nobody
s home" is just one of those times we all experience when we want to reach out and talk and no one is available. Its a feeling that everyone is "having fun" and you are alone.I'm not sure if you're aware of this or not, but the main melody line was lifted directly from the second movement of Rachmanov's Second Piano Concerto. Not a bad place to steal, I'll admit, but he can't be credited for the melody (see my comment to "Never Gonna Fall in Love Again" for, yes, another Rachmaninov theft).
@JSBach only the melody in between the verses. The vocal melody of the verse and chorus are his, and most of the song is original melody.

This song is about my complete loneliness and despair since I was 8. see my mixtape for details.
Remembered my 2nd girl left me and this song was on the radio.
Why when we break up is nothing but love songs on the radio. Makes me wanna drive off a cliff.
Thanks a lot Tara !!!
@uglytuna it's not funny, but your comment made me chuckle. Thank you

Simple lyrics that she’d light on the the changes in life. At the begging for of your life you are growing and experiencing new things however, as you get older you lose the people around you until there is only you. It’s the evolution of man and a sad reality most get to figure out sooner or later.
Go visit your mom and dad and grandparents, especially if they are older. They miss you and are going through this now....
Merci Sergej Rachmaninov pour cette superbe musique.
The song is about loneliness obviously. Not a break up song, but about just having no one in the first place:
"And a love so distant and obscure, remains the cure"
I believe this is referring to paying for sex to temporarily satiate/"cure" his loneliness.
And yeah, never needing anyone when you're young is probably because when you're young you figure you'll figure things out as you get older, you have all the time in the world. Its easier to be alone as a kid. But then when you're older it starts to become more important, and you don't want to be alone.
