Blank Lyrics

No conviction in your numb mind
a hidden cell of chemicals
keep your soul on the projection
never turn on the camera
because

I kind of like the blank way I fill up my life
I don't care for nothing that gets me too high
I want some dampend spirits and blackend bitter spoons
I'm not looking for reflection, I'm living on the moon

No conviction in your voice box
its buried low beneath the guilt
it all seems real as you wisper
she lies warm as weel as you
and she knows...

here I am right at home in my crater
here I am feeling old
here I am wishing for a miracle
I need to know

That I like the blank way I fill up the sky
and I care for nothing you put in my mind

this song seems like its about a herion addiction, and a person's regret of doing it, but you cant control it. he feels like herion/any other drug is a cop out to really experienceing the world and life. but thats just my spin on it.

This song is really, really great to listen to on ketamine. I don't know if these guys have ever tried it (hopefully not, it's a terribly stupid drug, that's why they're called K-tards and not K-heads), but Failure is one of the few bands I would want to listen to on K and the line "I'm not looking for reflection, I'm living on the moon" is particularly poignant, especially if you're on K but your drug(s) of choice are more psychedelic in nature.

oh man, its ironic that you were on drugs while listening to this song, cuz its about abstaining from drugs. "no conviction in your numb mind, a hidden cell of chemicals" means your brain is chock full of dope. "i kind of like the blank way i fill up my life, i dont care for nothing that gets me too high" is pretty obviously saying that he doesnt want to do drugs. this song was probably written by ken out of frustration over gregs relationship with his spoon and needle.

the only line that sortof goes contrary to the whole song is "i want some dampened spirits and blackened bitter spoons." now he wants alcohol and heroin?

I think he says he don't want any meth, cocaine, various uppers etc., he wants heroin, being numbed down, not picked up.

Ken, I take it, didn't show at Fabios party. Everyone knows Fabio is a coke fiend.

On the failure documentary he explains that this song is about when he was recording fantastic planet and felt alone and not really there because of his raging herion addiction hence the "living on the moon" He's calling his mind a hidden cell of chemicals, meaning he's overrun by drugs and his mind is numb with drugs.

Great tune

"she lies warm as weel as you"

I'm pretty sure that line is "she lies warm and the smell is you"

This song is definitely not about abstaining from drugs. To me, it seems that it is about the numb or BLANK feeling that the drugs/alcohol give him.

He doesn't care for anything that gets him too high, cuz he doesn't want to feel HIGH... he wants to feel NOTHING.

i dont care for nothing that gets me too high i want some dampend spirits and blackend bitter spoons

this part seems to contradict itself but it doesnt. this song is about escaping; how he prefers heroin to any other drug and the blank feeling you get from it

"I need to know" should definitely be changed to "I need you to know".

The spoon lyrics are wrong, he sings:

"And blackened DINNER spoons, I'm not looking for REFLECTION"

This is one of my favorite lines in the whole song, it killed me to see it misrepresented. The reflection line is pure genius.

Thanks.

It's definitely "bitter".
