Silver Lining Lyrics
She left me a scar so I have her still
She’s not young, but she’s not old yet
We share the same sun but her’s never sets
Silver lining shining for you
You got it
The dark cloud always waiting for you
I remember her voice but not her face
Floating but she’s always near
She wants to stay but she can’t stay here
Silver lining shining for you
You got it
The dark cloud always waiting for you
Where did you hide all those days we’d waste?
Fading but I see her still
She’ll always be my punk rock girl

This was the second Beulah song I heard, and it's my favorite. To me, it's either about a guy who's old girlfriend was a punk rocker, or it could be a metaphor for a guy's love for punk rock.

the first time i listened to this i immediently thought of my boyfriend...maybe it was because i used to be a punker...

I have never heard beulah and have no clue about this song. But this band's name has always caught my eye cuz my Grandma's name is Beulah. heheh Anyone know where the band's name comes from..?
and since this is song meanings I better put what this song means to me. I have never heard it but from what I see here it seems like tree monkey is right. It's about his punk ex-girlfriend that left a mark on his heart and he still remembers or punk music that even though he doesn't listen to it as much anymore it will always be a part of him.
Your great-grandparents named your grandma "Beulah?" Jeeze. Aside from place names/street names, Beulah is the name of Nature's purest form of evil in Robert Blake's poetry.

it has nothing to do with a girlfriend. the "relationship" scenario is merely a metaphor for his roots or background in music. It's about the decline of luster and popularity of punk.

hey, white tide...who died and made you the authority? Is it possible that the beauty of this song is that it could be both?

The beauty of any song is that the listener takes away from it what he or she wants to. If you find beauty in it, then it's beautiful, even if you get a completely different meaning out of it than the artist did or intended to evoke.
But I'm with WhiteTide -- "Punk rock was my first girl" allies punk rock with being a girl, with the narrator declaring that punk rock means/meant as much to him as his first girl did. But that's just what I took from it.

"Punk rock was my first girl . . . She’ll always be my punk rock girl"
These two lines, for some reason, lead me to believe that it is actually a girl he's talking about. . .

Or perhaps its a metaphor. . .

The song is a paean to Miles Kurosky's first musical love, punk rock.
