So this has been.my favorite song of OTEP's since it came out in 2004, and I always thought it was a song about a child's narrative of suffering in an abusive Christian home. But now that I am revisiting the lyrics, I am seeing something totally new.
This song could be gospel of John but from the perspective of Jesus.
Jesus was NOT having a good time up to and during the crucifixion. Everyone in the known world at the time looked to him with fear, admiration or disgust and he was constantly being asked questions. He spoke in "verses, prophesies and curses". He had made an enemy of the state, and believed the world was increasingly wicked and fallen from grace, or that he was in the "mouth of madness".
The spine of atlas is the structure that allows the titan to hold the world up. Jesus challenged the state and in doing so became a celebrated resistance figure. It also made him public enemy #1.
All of this happened simply because he was doing his thing, not because of any agenda he had or strategy.
And then he gets scourged (storm of thorns)
There are some plot holes here but I think it's an interesting interpretation.
Hope is your survival
A captive path I lead
No matter where you go
I will find you
If it takes a long long time
No matter where you go
I will find you
If it takes a thousand years

The way this song speaks to me🥺🥺when I sing it I feel like I relate
Holiday
Bee Gees
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday".
I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.
I wonder if this song is about reincarnation or karma. If it takes a thousand years may suggest this! Hopefully someday you will find the higher consciousness/nirvana.
The place with no frontiers means no borders, as in nirvana or Heaven. Lastly, Clannad is a New Age Singer
I first heard this song when I was really, really young from the 'Last of the Mohicans' soundtrack, that movie was my absolute favourite. It introduced me to new age music and Enya. If you didn't know; Clannad is a group ran by [I think, correct me if I'm wrong] by Enya's family. I know at least a few of her family members and herself as well are in it [were].
This song is absolutely beautiful. I think saliva may have a valid point. Music has different meanings for everyone, I think. For me it reminds me of my boyfriend who is really far away right now [luckily he won't be for much longer] etc.
But a beautiful song, definitely.
No matter where you go I will find you If it takes a long long time No matter where you go I will find you If it takes a thousand years.
So perfect. I listen to this over and over.
I have a dance version of this, it's really cool!
Absolutely beautiful song that goes with the movie so well. This song is amazing.
This song reminds me of the movie The Fountain - that not even death will keep us apart - our souls are intwined together - they are ours
intertwined
When I had first heard Enya's song 'Only Time' [years ago], it inspired me to hear more songs from her. I then found I had heard them long before and didn't even know it was her! Well, I was excited to find out she was also in a band along with her sister, brother and uncles.
Then I heard this beautiful song. It relates a bit to mine own life. Someone I love moved far from me, and we are still much in love, we planned on getting married. This song helps me to believe I will see him again, and we can be a family [him, my daughter, and I].
It is a lovely song.
[I didn't see the film unfortunately].
On a side note, does anyone know what the translation is for the Mohican and Cherokee lyrics are? They're beautiful so I am just curious.
