Help Me Lyrics
Help me
I think I'm falling
In love again
When I get that crazy feeling, I know
I'm in trouble again
I'm in trouble
'Cause you're a rambler and a gambler
And a sweet-taIking-ladies man
And you love your lovin'
But not like you love your freedom
Help me
I think I'm falling
In love too fast
It's got me hoping for the future
And worrying about the past
'Cause I've seen some hot hot blazes
Come down to smoke and ash
We love our lovin'
But not like we love our freedom
Didn't it feel good
We were sitting there talking
Or lying there not talking
Didn't it feel good
You dance with the lady
With the hole in her stocking
Didn't it feel good
Didn't it feel good
Help me
I think I'm falling
In love with you
Are you going to let me go there by myself
That's such a lonely thing to do
Both of us flirting around
Flirting and flirting
Hurting too
We love our lovin'
But not like we love our freedom
I think I'm falling
In love again
When I get that crazy feeling, I know
I'm in trouble again
I'm in trouble
'Cause you're a rambler and a gambler
And a sweet-taIking-ladies man
And you love your lovin'
But not like you love your freedom
I think I'm falling
In love too fast
It's got me hoping for the future
And worrying about the past
'Cause I've seen some hot hot blazes
Come down to smoke and ash
We love our lovin'
But not like we love our freedom

Or lying there not talking

With the hole in her stocking
Didn't it feel good

l really like this song. joni mitchell is such a great singer. obviously, this song is about falling in love, and deciding if its the right thing to do at that moment "but not like we love our freedom".
No matter how old I am, or who I am in love with, I find myself relating back to this song, I wonder if I will ever compromise my freedom for love.
i love this song so much, it's gorgeously anthematic
joni's voice just soars and glides through it, she's superb.
this song. is amazing. it totally sums up my whole existence. haha
Her voice is so calm and light and, floaty.
I hear the part "not like we love our freedom" after the parts saying they love their lovin, that makes it seem like they might have a harder time getting together as an "item" because they like having that freedom so much, but that's just what I think.
Good times. Joni is pure silk. I hear this and it takes me back to summer days long before I had a care in the world sleeping in untill noon and hearing this on AM radio.
@yarbles67 Huh. By noon on any given summer day I would've already worked five hours in the hot sun picking rocks and pulling weeds. For NO pay.. But I still can relate, what with the AM radio...So you're cool!

Great song about falling in love, lusty love, sexy love. From a female prespective.
Whenever I listen to some of her songs I'm thinking inside..never ever: this one it's a beautiful song per se, but If I would ever find myself in the position someone else has decided for me, that is to beg for help, that would be the perfect moment to realize it's time to say bye instead. Some people are just interested in making you feel uncomfortable, so they can thrive, nothing more than that, whatever part they got so good at playing.
Cause I've seen some hot hot blazes Come down to smoke and ash what does this mean? and he loves his loving? I am not a native English speaker...if someone tells me, I will be very happy. Thank you.
It's been widey documented that this song, as well as "Free Man in Paris", are about record mogul David Geffin and his free spirited ways during the 70's. "we love our lovin' but not like we love our freedom" is somewhat of a cynical comment on fooling around and not being committed.
