rhett miller is the author of my emotions. i am solome. i am in every one of his songs. that's not supposed to sound narcissistic, it's just that rhett miller just seems to know what's going on in my head.

This reply is almost 5 years later, but if you are like Salome, you are a horrible person. I think everyone can relate to having a significant other like this. We try so hard to keep them and make them happy, but they can just move on to someone else so easily with no feeling at all, while we are left a hollow person wondering what went wrong. One of my favorite songs ever.

She was responsible for the death of John the Baptist because she was granted a request from King Herod to have his head on a "silver platter" because of her mother's hatred of John. She was able to acquire an undeniable request, and thus trick Herod into reluctantly executing John by performing a seductive dance for Herod. I believe Miller is using this name as a comparison to a woman whom he desires and whose beauty he can't resist. His desire for her is futile because she has no commitment and can easily seduce another man into falling for her. This girl is destined to "wreck" a man just as Salome in the Bible.
