This song isnt sad! Its just a man struggling to make a very important decision in his life. He would really like to know beforehand how each choice would turn out so he could choose "the right" one, but so many times we dont even know whats right for us. What would be the use of putting faith in God to guide him to the right decision if he already has foreknowledge of what will happen? Pretty soon we'd start thinking we didnt need God because we have "control" over our lives. The bible says that we are saved by faith alone and that is precisely what making a life changing decision requires. Thus he comes to the conclusion that he needs to trust God, knowing that He will help him make the right decision.
