such simple lyrics but bc they are, there are even more powerful. it seems pretty straight forward, being able to be in a pyschological mindspace where u can take on the stuff being tossed at u. that's why i think the repetition works, its like a psyching mantra. love this song but apperantly few else do...

"I wear my sword at my side"; reminds me of the quote "Walk softly and carry a big stick". Be at ease with your self and others, but always be aware and prepared, don't accept what's given to you, always ask questions. It's a metaphore for how to live your life every day.

"I have become pure water". Water, a substance that can be changed into anything, but it always retains it's original form. "Pure" water: perfection, never truly changed.

"distorted and echoed". You have completly lost sight of your true self and it's repeated to you every day of your life. That doesn't change who you really are.

Is there is a relation between pure water and swords? I think the composer of this song is saying that in order to become your true self you must always carry a sword at your side.

Not to sound like a religious fanatic, but in John 7:38, Jesus said "He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, 'From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.'" And in Matthew 10:34, Jesus said that He did not come to bring peace, but a sword. Finally, in the Old Testament, Isaiah reports that God’s fire is a cleansing fire that burns your guilt away and purifies you from sin (6:7).

So, the few and simple lyrics of "Swords" reveals the author has found redemption.
