Crescent Moon Lyrics
Reach a hand to the crescent moon
grab hold of the hollow
If she sits in the palm of the left
that moon will be fuller tomorrow
If she sits in the palm of the right
that moon is on the wane
and the love of the one who shares your bed
will be doing just the same
`Won't you come with me', she said,
`there's plenty of room in my iron bed
You're looking cold and tired
and more than a little human
I know I'm not part of the life you had planned,
but I think once your body feels my hand
your mind will change
and your heart will lose its pain'
Out among the fields gently hipped
beneath the corn,
Assiniboine bones beneath the highway
he stood there and he thought of home
A finger traces the path of a satellite
You're drawn to a distant copse of trees
A voice as sweet as Mare's Tail
clings to the prairie breeze
`Won't you come with me', she said,
`there's plenty of room in my iron bed
You're looking cold and tired
and more than a little human
I know I'm not part of the life you had planned,
but I think once your body feels my hand
your mind will change
and your heart will lose its pain'
Do I reach for you
when I know you're on the wane?
Do I sense you when I know you're not around?
Do I search for you
when I know you can't be found?
Do I dare to speak your name?
Raise your eyes to a moonless sky
and try to wish upon a rising star
Search all you want for her blessing
but you won't find her sparkling there
Now cast your eyes to a part of the sky
where nothing but darkness unfolds
and watch as all around you
she reveals the brilliance of secrets untold
Won't you come with me, she said,
there's plenty of room in my iron bed
You're looking cold and tired
and more than a little human
I know I'm not part of the life you had planned,
but I think once your body feels my hand

Ha, Myself248, are you a filthy humanist? (That's a joke--I'm a big humanism fan) Although I don't think "you're looking...human" implies the narrator is inhuman. I think that's more of an expression. "I'm only human," and "mortality" come to mind. Especially since it starts with "you're looking cold and tired and."
Whoa!!!! LMAO Myself428 I think you are to full of yourself!!!
Steve Dale... "Won't you come with me, she said, there's plenty of room in my iron bed You're looking cold and tired and more than a little human I know I'm not part of the life you had planned, but I think once your body feels my hand your mind will change and your heart will lose its pain"
Baby, I want overs.

To me, it's a prison. Once you're in, there's no coming out. Do you choose that dream lover, or your own?
That answer was in response to this quote from the first lyric, for some reason how the formatting made it not show up --- "I'm still not sure about the significance of the "iron" bed. Is it sturdy, or malleable? Either way, the invitation is seductive"
I would like to offer my interpretation of a couple of imagery concepts that have been kicked aournd here.
First, given her minimal descriptor tendancy, I believe the phrase 'looking more than a little human' is meant to say 'looking like something the cat dragged in'. So, I believe she is trying to point out that the character object of the song has perhaps been out in the elements for a while and so is somewhat vulnerable and needy.
Secondly, the term 'iron bed' is meant to describe something that is both hard and soft. The object is to know that he is being invited to a soft warm place from which he will just as abruptly be asked to leave and, as the song goes on to describe, with brilliant secrets and blessings that cannot be seen or described, but only found in the dark abyss of one's soul. Her true gift to him was not just the brief shelter and warmth of her bed and body, but to enable him to find comfort alone in his own darkness.
The first few times through, I was too thoroughly melted by Margo's voice to hear anything but sweet romance in the refrain. But after some time to cool off and reflect, I heard plenty more, ere I listened again.
The first stanza tells of the inexorable motion of the cosmos, which we can't hope to outlast. It then points out the rise and fall of human relationships, laughably short and fast.
Now who would refer to us as human? Obviously one who herself is not. The acceptance of faith might give you the warmth that otherwise you haven't got. (I'm still not sure about the significance of the "iron" bed. Is it sturdy, or malleable? Either way, the invitation is seductive.)
Of course no CJ song would be complete without imagery that's western. His attention split between technology and nature, he remembers his ancestors.
Relationships, of course, are more than one-on-one. Entire flocks of humans have made this mistake, or found this solace. Religions are fads just like everything else we humans hang our hearts on. For saying that, do I sound soulless?
Even betting on a winning fad, the supernatural is still a losing game. He who dies with the most churchmates still dies, I say. Seek instead to be enlightened by introspection. Since we ourselves are natural, then can't all the questions, in the end, be answered by nature? Find your own way.
