Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.
The Sleeper:
Shine- lake of fire
Lines take me higher
My mind drips desire
Confined and overtired
Living this charade
Is getting me nowhere
I can't shake this charade
The city's cold blood calls me home
HomeIt's what I long for
Back homewhere I belong
The city- it calls to me
Decadent scenes from my memory
Sorrow- eternity
My demons are coming to drown me
Help- I'm falling, I'm crawling
I can't keep away from its clutch
Can't have it, this habit
It's calling me back to my home
The Miracle:
I remember the first time she came to me
Poured her soul out all night and cried
I remember I was told there's a new love that's born
For each one that has died
I never thought that I
Could carry on with this life
But I can't resist myself
No matter how hard I try
Living their other life
Is getting them nowhere
I'll make her my wife
Her sweet temptation calls me home
HomeIt's what I long for
My homewhere she belongs
Her ecstasy- means so much to me
Even decieving my own blood
Victoria watches and thoughtfully smiles
She's taking me to my home
Help- he's my brother, but I love her
I can't keep away from her touch
Deception, dishonor
It's calling me back to my home
Nicholas:
Her story- it holds the key
Unlocking dreams from my memory
Solving this mystery
Is everything that is a part of me
Help- regression, obsession
I can't keep away from her touch
Leave no doubt, to find out
It's calling me back to my home
Shine- lake of fire
Lines take me higher
My mind drips desire
Confined and overtired
Living this charade
Is getting me nowhere
I can't shake this charade
The city's cold blood calls me home

Fortnight
Taylor Swift
Taylor Swift
The song 'Fortnight' by Taylor Swift and Post Malone tells a story about strong feelings, complicated relationships, and secret wishes. It talks about love, betrayal, and wanting someone who doesn't feel the same. The word 'fortnight' shows short-lived happiness and guilty pleasures, leading to sadness. It shows how messy relationships can be and the results of hiding emotions. “I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me,” she kickstarts the song in the first verse with lines suggesting an admission to a hospital for people with mental illnesses. She goes in the verse admitting her lover is the reason why she is like this. In the chorus, she sings about their time in love and reflects on how he has now settled with someone else. “I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary / And I love you, it’s ruining my life,” on the second verse she details her struggles to forget about him and the negative effects of her failure. “Thought of callin’ ya, but you won’t pick up / ‘Nother fortnight lost in America,” Post Malone sings in the outro.
Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.
The Night We Met

This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines:
"Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet"
So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other:
"I had all and then most of you"
Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart
"Some and now none of you"
Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship.
This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Julian's Verses are him talking about how his Demons (Drugs, Drinking, Gambling) Tore him and Victoria apart, and now he wants to break his bad habits and get Victoria back.
Nicholas's verses are his waking from another Dream about Victoria's life and realizes that the story he's been dreaming about (her life) is the key to the mystery about her murder. he's been dreaming about Victoria (him in his past life) and he's becoming increasingly obcsessed with discovering the whole story of her life and death, it's implied that he's been neglecting his own life and family to do so.
Edwards (The Miracle) verses are him remembering when Victoria left Julian and came to him for comfort. He took advantage of her Vulnerability and seduced her because he was in love with her too - he's torn between his guilt over betraying his brother and his desire for Victoria.
To me, this song is one of the key points in the album, and also one of the strangest. It shows, not the links between Nicholas and Victoria, but the parallels between him and the two men who she loved. The three men all follow the same lyrical patern, representing their obsession (the word is even used by Nick) and deep need for the same woman. This says to me that, while Nick and Victoria are one and the same, he has also become obsessed with her life to the same level as the men who loved her.
awesome interpretation - this song also parallels metropolis, pt. 1 more than any other song in the album itself:<br /> <br /> "I remember I was told there's a new love that's born<br /> For each one that has died..."<br /> <br /> "Victoria watches and thoughtfully smiles<br /> She's taking me to my home"<br /> <br /> way i see it, this is kinda like the older, somber brother of metropolis pt. 1 - the Miracle to its Julian, if that makes any sense.
Never thought of that. :p Yes, this song is clearly over Obsession about secret, Addiction, and Love!
Julian is also a heavy gambler. This is my favorite song on SFAM.
Anybody know what the background lyrics in the chorus are saying?
EXCELLENT SONG. I JUST LOVE iT
"[The Sleeper:] Shine- lake of fire Lines take me higher My mind drips desire Confined and overtired"
The sleeper was on drugs? :/ "Lines take me higher" I think so!!...
Julian/Sleeper/Romulus have a addiction problem on Cocaine, Alcohol and gambling! You'll heard the liquor bottle on Crime Scene number 9! hence Metropolis leave him for the Miracle! and His (Miracle/Remus) obsession over Metropolis (Victoria/Rome)<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> P.s: Don't ever take Romulus and Remus mythology on Scenes from a Memory. :p
Yeah, the best song from SFAM, though "Overture 1928" comes close.
Yeah........... so what's it about?
Julian Obsession with Addiction, Victoria disappointment over Julian, and Edward obsessive over Victoria as he is falling for her brother's lover!
OH MY DEAR LORD THIS SONG IS SWEET!!!! I LOVE EVERY THING ABOUT THIS SONG!!!
I agree with the above comments. if u listen in the background of part of the song, u can hear slot machines and casino things.
