Since You've Been Gone Lyrics

I get the same old dream, same time every night
Fall to the ground and I wake up
So I get out of bed, put on my shoes, and in my head
Thoughts fly back to the break-up

These four walls are closing in
Look at the fix you've put me in!!

Chorus:
Since You've Been Gone, Since You've Been Gone
I'm outta my head, Can't take it
Could I be wrong, but Since You've Been Gone
You cast the spell, so break it
Oooohhh - Whhooooaaa - Ooooohhh
Since You've Been Gone

So in the night I stand beneath the backstreet light
I read the words that you sent to me
I can take the afternoon, the night-time comes around too soon
You can't know what you mean to me

Your poison letter, your telegram
Just goes to show you don't give a damn

REPEAT CHORUS

No one seems to catch the real sense of the song which ISN'T DEPRESSION but rather of persistent and positive denial of breakup of a love relationship. This song tries to reconsider even reconciliation which makes it even more full of positive energy.

One person commenting on one of the greatest rock songs of all time!!! Obviously it's about someone who is feeling depressed about their break up; they want to let go...but can't

You know how sometimes you're in the mood for a really well-prepared expensive meal? And so you get dressed up and you go to a critically acclaimed restaurant and you order a $30 entree? But other times, you know, sometimes, you're like in the mood for, I don't know - a grilled cheese sandwich made with Velveeta and dipped in canned tomato soup, maybe. And man when you're in the mood for something like that it's deee-f'n-licious. This song, my friends, is a pasteurized process cheese food sandwich. And I wouldn't have it any other way.

The opening riff, if we can call it that, sets the tone for an uptempo churning rocker. The chorus is catchy. The vocal is a bit overwrought but it fits the song perfectly. I cannot listen to this song without feeling happy inside. It IS about a break-up, but I think the guy's just trying to work through his issues. He loves her, but he's mad at her, too. I think he's going to be just fine. Can you imagine these lyrics coming from someone like Chris Cornell? Ha!

The best part of this song is the solo at the end. Richie Blackmore is a genius guitarist. Shame most people only know Rainbow and Richie for this song. OPEN YOUR EARS PEOPLE AND BUY SOME RAINBOW OR DEEP PURPLE.

ONE DAY YOU WILL STOP LISTENING TO YOUR FRIENDS AND START LISTENING TO YOURSELF.

It’s about a relationship that he knows is over completely, but he was always the one to call the shots this time not so much. It’s easy to walk away when you’re the one in the driver seat, Little different when you have no control for once. Don’t really think it’s about love as much as it is about a controlling man used to getting his way. Karma!
