Man On The Silver Mountain Lyrics
I'm a wheel,I'm a wheel
I can roll,I can feel
And you can't stop me turning
Cause I'm the sun,I'm the sun
I can move,I can run
But you'll never stop me burning
Come down with fire
Lift my spirit higher
Someone's screaming my name
Come and make me holy again
I'm the man on the silver mountain
I'm the man on the silver mountain
I'm the day,I'm the day
I can show you the way
And look I'm right beside you
I'm the night,I'm the night
I'm the dark and the light
With eyes that see inside you
Come down with fire
Lift my spirit higher
Someone's screaming my name
Come and make me holy again
I'm the man on the silver mountain
I'm the man on the silver mountain
Come down with fire
Lift my spirit higher
Someone's screaming my name
Come and make me holy again
I'm the man on the silver mountain
I'm the man on the silver mountain
Just look at me and listen
I'm the man,the man,give you my hand
Come down with fire
Lift your spirit higher
I'm the man on the silver mountain
I'm the man on the silver mountain
I'm the night and the light
I'm the black and the white
The man on the silver mountain
I can roll,I can feel
And you can't stop me turning
Cause I'm the sun,I'm the sun
I can move,I can run
But you'll never stop me burning
Come down with fire
Lift my spirit higher
Someone's screaming my name
Come and make me holy again
I'm the man on the silver mountain
I'm the day,I'm the day

And look I'm right beside you

In a 1975 radio special with RJD & R. Blackmore, Ronnie explains this song -
"It is kind of a semi religious song in the respect that the man on the silver mountain is the kind of god figure that everyone is crying out to come and save them ".
Ronnie weaved such great words that it meant something and left room for your imagination to fill in the rest.
I think it's about spiritual enlightment, reaching the top (the silver mountain) and calling on your inner strength. Like finding inner peace and confidence. The man on the silver mountain I think is finding my higher self.
This was the only comment i saw that actually made sense... thank you domsmind.

I think you have smoked too much pot. Get home and take care of your baby, please? stay away from the crack, Dom.

It sounds like a cocaine dealer. "Man on the silver mountain" A white pile of coke, that the man is selling. It also means that he's high.
Come down with fire Lift my spirit higher Someone's screaming my name "Come and make me holy again"
Someone's asking him to get him high, again.
I'm the day, I'm the day I can show you the way And look, I'm right beside you
Self-explanatory
Well, I can help you, you know I can I'm the man on the silver mountain
He can help someone get high.
Ronnie was a biker and loved riding his Harley. To me this song is about Ronnie cursing the highway and picking up girls.
"I'm a wheel,I'm a wheel, I can roll, I can feel, And you can't stop me turning", Ronnie riding on his Harley.
"I'm the man on the silver mountain.", a "Silver Mountain" in biker slang for a motorcycle that is totally chromed including frame, tank and even the wheel covers. It is expensive, but Ronnie had the money for this.
"I can show you the way, And look I'm right beside you", this is Ronnie riding up besides a cage. He was known to follow cars with sweet young girls and hit on them. Yes, it worked.
"Someone's screaming my name, Come and make me holy again.", this is Ronnie closing the deal with her.
As far as I'm concerned I'd say the song was about Anubis, Egyptian God of the dead. Search Wikipedia for Anubis one of the things he is also known as is "he who is upon his mountain" or something to that effect.
Anubis, shows the way to the afterlife.
Dark and light, see right thru you, Anubis was to judge if you would pass on to heaven or hell.
Makes more sense to me than saying it's God or the Devil who's being sung about. :)
PS: don't hate me, I'm new, first post, woo! :D
I think its about the devil because of the lines "make me holy again", all the references to fire, and the general vibe of wealth and taste that the lyrics give off. The themes of contrast and duality like "day and night" or "dark and light" make me think of opposition and rebellion, another characteristic of the devil. Also, "Make me holy again" might be a reference to Satan's former status as an archangel.
great song, heard it at a festival, and thats what really got me into Rainbow (heard come as you are the same day, got into Nirvana that day aswell)
