If You're Gonna Play in Texas (You Gotta Have a Fiddle in the Band) Lyrics
Chorus:
If you're gonna play in Texas,
You gotta have a fiddle in the band.
That lead guitar is hot, but not for "Lousiana Man".
So rosin up that bow for "Faded Love" and let's all dance.
If you're gonna play in Texas,
You gotta have a fiddle in the band.
I remember down in Houston
We were puttin' on a show
When a cowboy in the back stood up and yelled, "Cotton-Eyed Joe"
He said, "We love what you're doin' boys don't get us wrong
There's just somethin' missin' in your song"
Chorus
So we dusted off our boots and put our cowboy hats on straight
Them Texans raised the roof when Jeff opened up his case
You say y'all wanna two-step you say ya wanna doe-si-doe
Well, here's a fiddlin' song before we go
Chorus (repeat and fade)

What is going on with "That lead guitar is hot but not for "Louisianna Man" I thought they were in Texas?
"Louisiana Man" is a song, genius... which is why it is in quotes in the above context.
I think this song is about if you are in a country band and you are playing in the state of Texas... then you better have a band member playing the fiddle. Deep
@defunct don\'t be a dick. I always wondered the same and never looked at lyrics until now, and never hearing the other "song" I never would have known either. Jerk

Could Yellowcard be a big draw to Texas. There are a punk rock band and they have a fiddle?
:)
You've got to be a country fan living in Texas to understand this song! A real country band in Texas does not go without a fiddle player.
Thats it, I'm moving to Texas.
It's quite obvious the meaning, but I love it. So true! and the fiddle work is amazing! I play so I know!
I love this song too, but always wondered why they said "loo-siana man" when they're in texas. This song reminds me of my sister, She loves Alabama, and loves to just yell out that part..."cotton eyed joe!"
